Children of the Fields

Orosi
Photographer John Castillo recently started a documentary photo project and blog called Children of the Fields. In this photo Ernesto Robles, 14, of Yettem, CA, holds a sack that weighs 65 lbs when full. Robles stared to pick Oranges with his father at 5am the morning of June 5th, 2010, the day the photo was taken.

"All across California, thousands of farmworker children are engaged in grueling and dangerous work. Loopholes in federal laws allow them to work at younger ages, for longer hours and in far more hazardous conditions than any other industry. Children of the Fields will tell their story." said Castillo.

I will help him edit the project.
